Fall is the perfect time to camp! The cooler temperatures and beautiful changing leaves make for a perfect evening around the campfire. Campfire cooking is a fun way to make memories with your family that will last a lifetime!

If you haven’t narrowed down your favorite fall camping recipes yet, here are some of our favorites to get you started!

 

Campfire Buttermilk Pancakes

Every great camping trip starts with the right breakfast! Delicious, fluffy buttermilk pancakes over the fire will keep your family energized for any adventures you have in store.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • For a simpler cooking experience, mix the dry ingredients in a gallon-sized
  • Ziplock bag at home!
  • Mix eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and butter in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix in dry ingredients.
  • Pour batter into skillet over campfire.
  • Cook on each side for 3-4 minutes or until cooked thoroughly.
  • Serve with butter and syrup.

 

Campfire Stew

When it comes to favorite fall camping recipes, Campfire Stew is a classic! This hearty, delicious stew is packed with meat and vegetables to keep your family energized for any camping activities you have planned. You’ll want to pack a dutch oven for this campfire cooking recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2-2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large diced onion
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 peeled potatoes, chopped
  • 4 cans vegetable soup
  • Garlic powder to taste

Instructions

  • Heat your dutch oven over the campfire. Add your ground beef and break it up as it cooks. Cook the ground beef until no more pink is visible. Then, drain the fat.
  • Add your chopped vegetables and cook until they start to soften.
  • Add the cans of soup and the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Let simmer over the fire for 30-45 minutes. Then serve! :)

 

Campfire Pot Roast

When it comes to a hearty comfort food, it doesn’t get much better than a pot roast! This campfire cooking recipe can be made easily in a dutch oven.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb roast
  • 1 lb carrots, peeled and cut
  • 1 potato per person, peeled and cut
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 4 cloves of crushed garlic
  • 1 can or carton of beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Any additional spices your family prefers

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in dutch oven over campfire.
  • While oil is heating, season the roast with salt, pepper, and spices to taste.
  • Sear each side of the roast in the dutch oven.
  • Once roast is seared, add broth to the pot.
  • Add chopped vegetables.
  • Add garlic and cover dutch oven with lid.
  • Let cook for 2-3 hours over a low fire. If possible, place hot coals on the lid to promote even heating.
  • After 2-3 hours, check meat and potatoes. If they are cooked to your liking, then it’s time to dig in!

 

Campfire Skillet Cornbread

When it comes to a delicious snack at the campsite or a savory addition to one of the other fall camping recipes, you can’t go wrong with cornbread! For this recipe, you’ll want to be sure to pack a skillet.

Ingredients

  • ½ stick butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup of cornmeal, medium grind preferred
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Heat the butter in the skillet until it melts. Then, remove the skillet from heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and honey until the mixture is smooth.
  • Stir in milk and 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Add cornmeal, salt, baking powder, and flour to the bowl and mix.
  • Place skillet over campfire until butter is melted again.
  • Add the batter to the skillet in a smooth, even layer.
  • Cover skillet with foil and slice a few vents with the knife to allow steam to escape.
  • Cook over campfire for 15-20 minutes, then let cool for 5 minutes. Once cooled, enjoy!

 

Campfire Banana Boats

If you have dinner, you have to have dessert! This tasty recipe is simple and easy, so your kids can join in on the preparation, too!

Ingredients

  • 1 banana per person
  • ½ milk chocolate candy bar per person
  • 4-5 marshmallows per person

Instructions

  • Cut bananas in half lengthwise.
  • Layer pieces of candy bar and marshmallows on bottom half of bananas.
  • Replace top half of each banana.
  • Wrap in foil and heat over campfire for 4-5 minutes. Let cool and enjoy!
